FOCAL Meditech BV imports the ‘SOFT’ modular head support systems for the Benelux. This three-piece support system assists persons that need support of the head when being seated. Users commonly are challenged by severely disabling conditions in the neck and head region.
A recent innovation is Cuddles, a modular support system for very young children.
Use:
The standard version of ‘SOFT’ always exists of three cushions. Accessories come in many variations to make it possible to cope with complex postural disorders or allow for the use of head operated switches. Individually adaptable supportive cushions and accessories guarantee fit and comfort. Cuddles for the youngest is based on the same principles but comes in colourful designs.
Three-piece systems: Working principle:
Two oblong gulf shaped cushions offer support underneath the head and under the ears. This shape gives a lot of comfort and 'catches' the head. The cushion at the back completes the supportive function. The funnel-like shape leads the head to the center position. Further support is possible but not necessary. All parts are individually and continuously adjustable.
Materials for sideward and forward support:
The three-piece systems offer considerable sideward support. Most systems can be combined with extra cushions that support or correct the head from the side to cope with strong spasms or compulsive posture. They can be adjusted individually.
The models:
Head supports come in six models with a great choice in additional materials for sideward and forward support. Mounting brackets - which come in four different types - are fitted to the wheelchair to accommodate the head supports. In addition several handy switches can be placed to be used as head control switches. FOCAL Meditech BV developed and manufactures several unique mounting units which offer additional functionality.
