Dynamic arm support ‘SLING’
Dynamic arm support ‘SLING’ is, as the name says, an arm support of the ‘sling’ type. Its working principle completely differs from the ‘TOP’. This arm support incorporates a small sling attached to a thin cable from above. The cable is connected to a moving suspension mechanism on a rail above the user. From here the cable goes to an adjustable counterweight contained in a cylinder on the rear of the (wheel)chair. The alternating counterweight will assist the movements of the arm against gravity. The rotating movements of vertical construction parts allow for supported vertical arm movements and at the same time the sliding movements of the railsystem ensure an optimal application of forces used on the underarm. The ‘SLING’ likewise enables the arm to be moved both horizontally and vertically.
The ‘SLING’ has a dynamic character. Because there are no obstructive constructions under the arm, the limited space on the worktop can be free for operating units and the like. The ‘SLING’ is known for its ease of use. It can be attached and detached as required and the forearm can easily be inserted into the armrest. Its mounting contains an easy to use mechanism for adjustments in the vertical plane.
Like the ‘TOP’, the ‘SLING’ has proven its functionality as well as the durability of its construction for many years and is subject to constant further development. As from 2008, also an electric version is available!
